LG Announces Vudu Movie Service for Broadband HDTVs

July 30, 2009

Beginning in August, LG broadband-enabled HDTV owners will have access to Vudu’s extensive library of high definition-content, including over 2,000 movies in 720p or 1080p. The integrated service will negate the need to purchase Vudu’s HD set-top box, delivering identical content directly to an HDTV through its Ethernet port or WiFi connection. Customers with fast broadband connections can rent films in Vudu’s HDX format for $5.99, which offers 1080p HD video and Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 surround sound. The service will be ship with all LG Broadband HDTVs beginning next month, and will be available as a free download for current Broadband HDTV owners.
