A City of 17 Million
With smog often blanketing the skyline, it’s sometimes impossible to fathom Beijing’s enormity. Clear days do come around, however, so be sure to take advantage with an incredibly steep climb to the top of the city’s Drum Tower. The attraction, located east of Houhai Lake, provides a panoramic view of Beijing’s skyline. The climb to the top can be physically draining, but on a clear day, the view alone is worth the trip. One side of the skyline can be seen below, though all four sides of the tower present similar vistas.
